A single Mg II system at z =0.5507 was reported by SS92. The system is verified in the HIRES spectrum, including the detection of Fe II and Ca II.

This system exhibits an asymmetric rotating disk-like profile with a high velocity subsystem at v = 145 km/s. Weak neutral Mg I and the low ionization Ca II 3639 transition are present and are aligned in velocity with the central optically thick portion of the Mg II profile. Fe II is not detected in the high velocity subsystem. A total of four VP components was fit to the system. The Fe II 2344, 2374, and 2383 transitions and the Ca II 3934 transition (partially) were not covered by the HIRES format. The Mn II triplet showed no absorption to the EW(rest) limits given in Table 3.34.
Post Thesis WorkFOS/HST data have been investigated.
